A tutor platform in Softbook

Lessons in a messenger, the schedule in a spreadsheet, payments on paper. Now the lessons, the assignments, the schedule, and the payments are in one place.

Lessons

Lessons and a schedule: the student works to a timetable

For you this means the student moves through the program, and the next lesson opens on schedule. You put lessons together with video, text, and materials — and set the order.

  • Lessons with video, text, and materials by topic
  • A dynamic schedule: the next lesson opens on a timetable
  • The program is laid out in order, not as a pile of separate files

Assessments

The student builds the sentence instead of guessing one of four

For you this means you can see whether the student has actually absorbed the construction — rather than how well they poked at an option. For a language school that's the difference between "passed the test" and "knows the language." And the explanations for the answers are read while the test is being taken, so the test teaches what didn't land in the lesson. Six of the eight question types are interactive — the student assembles, reorders, and sorts instead of picking something ready-made; you can add decoys to the tasks and explanations to the options.

  • A sentence builder and assembling a word from letters — guessing doesn't work
  • Matching and categorization: word ↔ translation, word ↔ part of speech
  • Decoy words and decoy letters in the tasks
  • Café = Cafe — an option to ignore diacritics and letter variants; in the blanks, synonyms are separated by |: color|colour
  • Explanations for the answers — while the test is being taken, not only at the end

Pronunciation

Check pronunciation, not spelling

For you this means the thing that matters most for a language school — you hear how the student speaks rather than reading how they wrote. And you answer them by voice too. The student records a voice answer to an assignment, and the teacher replies with a voice message.

  • A student's voice answer to an assignment
  • A teacher's voice message in reply
  • Graded assignments with the history of the student's work on the lesson

Groups and payment

Groups and payments: teach a stream of students without manual work

For you this means students are sorted into groups, and payment for lessons happens on the platform. After paying, the student gets access on their own.

  • Student groups — separate access and materials for each
  • Payment for lessons and lesson packages: one-off or on a subscription
  • After payment the student is connected automatically

"We picked Softbook because we needed one platform for selling courses and managing students. What we value most: video uploads, clear pricing with no surprises, and support that actually listens and acts."

Tanya Mykhalchenko

"The team moved all my lessons over by hand — I have no idea how I would have done it myself. They were careful about it. They keep improving the platform, they listen to what you ask for, and they genuinely look after every client."

Olga Miller

"Before we switched, we tried selling video lessons through Instagram, but without an admin it was impossible. Here I uploaded the courses, set up automatic payments — and the system runs itself. The courses bring in steady income without me being involved every day."
