Update: Softbook v.2.1
One of the largest Softbook updates: gamification, social network, and much more
We’ve become even more powerful. Gamification helps motivate students through clear goals, progress tracking, and rewards. In courses, it works as a driver for completing lessons and tests, as a tool to bring students back to studying, and as a way to mark key achievements.
The messenger is convenient for quick communication within the platform: instructors answer questions, administrators send service messages, and students receive feedback without email or extra chats.
The social network adds live interaction: personal profiles, posts, comments, and a feed. Here, you can announce new courses and products, gather feedback, engage students in discussions, and create expert sections. As a result, learning becomes not only effective but genuinely engaging.
Let’s look at each new feature in detail 👇

Frequently asked questions
How does gamification work in Softbook 2.1?
Softbook 2.1 lets schools create custom rewards and point scenarios tied to learning actions. Students can earn achievements for starting or completing lessons, finishing courses, passing tests, submitting successful homework, registering, or purchasing a product. Progress, reward visibility, points, and leaderboards can be configured for selected student groups.
What is included in the Softbook social network and messenger?
The beta social network adds personal profiles, profile walls, a shared feed, posts, comments, reactions, attachments, friends, and optional group-based visibility. The beta messenger supports private chats and new-message notifications. Owners, administrators, and instructors can contact students whenever the messenger is enabled, while student-to-student messaging remains optional.
Can reward and point rules be customized for different students?
Yes. Administrators can upload a reward image, choose whether students see it before earning it, award an exact number of points, and limit a scenario to particular groups. Schools may also show or hide point totals, the rewards page, and leaderboards, as well as manually add or subtract points on a student card.
What administrative and analytics improvements are in version 2.1?
The update adds simpler Zoom connection, custom dashboards for team roles or individual staff members, and improved course statistics with remaining access days and group filters. Analytics now records enrollment and group changes, while API v2 can set a student’s email language. Portmone and Hutko integrations also support product and course sales.
Are all Softbook 2.1 features available now?
The release features are available in the current Softbook version, although the social network and internal messenger are still marked beta. Schools can start using gamification, Zoom, dashboards, statistics, integrations, analytics, voice homework responses, and the other improvements now. Setup guidance is available in the knowledge base, with support for additional questions.
